Craig Wright has filed United States copyright registrations for the Bitcoin white paper authored by Satoshi Nakamoto. The Australian entrepreneur has long claimed to have written the cryptocurrency blueprint under the pseudonym.

A spokesman for Wright told the Financial Times that "the registrations issued by the U.S. Copyright Office recognize Wright as the author — under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto — of both the white paper and code," claiming the Office to be the first government agency that recognizes Wright as the creator of the leading digital currency. Facebook in Talks With Coinbase, Winklevoss' Gemini to Launch Its Globalcoin

What happened?
Facebook has reportedly held talks with major United States-based crypto exchanges about the issuance of its own crypto. According to anonymous sources, Facebook has been conducting negotiations with major crypto-related firms in order to ensure that its long-rumored stablecoin is pegged to the value of the United States dollar and is liquid, tradeable and secure.

Who is involved in the project?
Facebook has discussed the initiative with major crypto exchange and wallet Coinbase. It's also been noted that Facebook reportedly spoke with the Gemini exchange, which was founded by the Winklevoss twins, the well-known rivals of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. Read more here.

AT&T Now Accepts Crypto Payments via BitPay

What happened?
U.S. telecom and media giant AT&T is now accepting cryptocurrency for paying phone bills online, according to an official press release on May 23. AT&T will process bills paid in cryptocurrency using crypto payments platform BitPay.

Have they been involved in the crypto space before?
AT&T had previously filed a patent application — which was published by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in December — for a blockchain-based "social media history map" that would allow a network such as AT&T to gather its subscribers' social media "transaction" data. Read more here.

What happened?
Two miners have reportedly executed a 51% attack on the Bitcoin Cash blockchain, according to tweets by Cryptoconomy Podcast host Guy Swann.

Were any details specified?
According to Swann, two miners with majority control of the network — BTC.top and BTC.com — performed the attack in an effort to stop an unknown miner from taking coins that were sent to an "anyone can spend" address following the original hard fork in May 2017. Read more here.

Chinese E-Commerce Giant JD.com Has Applied for Over 200 Blockchain Patents

What is this all about?
Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com has applied for over 200 blockchain patents, according to a report by Securities Daily News. JD.com released a blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) platform JD Blockchain Open Platform in 2018, which allows organizations to streamline blockchain creation and run smart contracts.

What about their competitors?
The report also notes that major e-commerce competitor Alibaba has applied for 262 blockchain patents, and Chinese internet titans Tencent and Baidu have applied for 80 and 50 such patents, respectively. Read more here.
